Performing as instrumentalist, improvisingSztojanov's musical appearances are not limited to only singing or composing. He performs in alternative bands, plays premieres in a string quartet or improvises music with experienced improvisers on Queen's Day. He conducts, creates music with multitrack recording, leads choirs and group improvisations.
SINGING - PLAYING - COMPOSING
Georgi often performs in his own pieces as instrumentalist as well, for example in the production of 'Dialogues from my head'. In his song 'Ingenomen' - for tenor and string quartet - he combines his musical capacities as composer, singer and violinist, as the second violin can be played by the singer himself.
Weimarstraat republic
Georgi was an active instrumentalists as well in many ensembles and groups. Here is an example recording with him playing violin in this alternative band. IMPROVISATION
Improvising is also an essential part of his musical life - together with friends like Maya Feliybrodt, alone on multitrack recordings with singing and instruments (see soundtrack example below) or leading improvisations with choirs/ensembles. |
ConductingSo far he conducted mainly in ensembles he sang.
He currently started a Minor study in conducting, he hopes to get more involved with it. Downhill
Maya Felixbrodt asked him to conduct her secret ensemble in the background of her piece for Modelo62, conducted by Ezequiel Menalled. Leading rehearsals
Georgi ends up many times leading rehearsals in different ensembles and productions. In his production of 'Dialogues from my head' he prepared the orchestra with the material and created a special system with all musicians seeing their parts and a piano reduction plus the singers' line, to be able to lead the orchestra while playing one of the roles of the opera. Atlas
A pseudo-baroquish polish song, conducting and singing with Weimarstraat Republic. Choir impro leadingIn April, 2013, he gave a workshop in Budapest for the project choir HEKK, from his newly written etudes for choirs. Each small etude meditating on a poem by Angelus Silesius, the open form pieces help certain singing and listening skills and allows group improvisational techniques to be explored by the performers.
The workshop ending concert was quite successful, and parts of the pieces were performed again without the composer on the Night of Choirs in May. Currently he is preparing to publish the etudes as a series of booklets useful both for amateur and professional choirs. The 'SILESIUS ETUDES'
This is a pedagogical recording, where Georgi sang all the voices, so the choir can have an idea of the final result of one of the etudes. The Cultural Association "Halasto" won subsidies to publish the first booklet of the Silesius Etudes in 2014 March with game pieces, interactive warm-up exercises and creative ear-training materials, each being able to be performed as a meditation on texts of Angelus Silesius. |
